10,000 ROLLS OF FILM
A preset pack designed to give the feeling of film with the freedom of digital.

These are all photos I took using digital cameras.

Let me start at the beginning. The "film look" means a lot of different things to different people.

For me, there's a particular quality that some film photos have that feels timeless, nostalgic and dreamlike.

I've spent the past few years obsessively trying to harness that ethereal quality to apply it to digital photography.

It felt a bit like trying to catch lightning in a bottle.

I bought dozens of cameras, preset packs, apps, recipes and software that each promised to replicate the "film look".

Each brought something to the table, but none came close to convincing me that my digital images were shot on film.

Through continuous experimentation, I finally found a workflow that got me closer than anything I'd seen before.

It was convoluted and required multiple exports across various platforms. In an effort to simplify my process, I learned how to create my own .cube files and tweaked from there.

The results were so successful that I decided to publish the preset pack here under the title, 10,000 Rolls of Film, because that's what I wanted anyone who tries it to feel like they have. I don't think that digital should replace film, but I do want to offer a lower-cost sibling with fewer constraints.

As a stylistic touch for this porfolio, I also added film borders which are not included in the pack. Otherwise, the samples posted here all started as straight-out-of-camera with one-click edits using one of my 10 presets.

I've included some notes about each preset further down on this page. You'll also find more example photos labelled with which camera I used. For information on the cameras I recommend using with these presets, please check out my YouTube channel: @Bensen.Creates

This project has been years in the making.
I'm stoked to finally share it and my hope is that it helps talented people like you capture moments how you want to.
Go create something great.

Miss disposable cameras?
I've got you.
It's 1998 and you're sitting on the floor looking at prints.
You can pick them up and move them around. Go ahead, and help yourself to a 90's kid snack while you're here.
